Grant Criteria

In evaluating projects, ACCT considered the following guidelines and priorities in the allocation of the funds:

  • There will be transparency and accountability on the use of the funds.
  • The money will be used exclusively in aid of the Tsunami victims. Outreach of the funds used will be non-religious and non-political.
  • The money will be focused on Sri Lanka and Indonesia which is most impacted by the Tsunami. Preference is on areas where other aid was less forthcoming, where NGOs and government agencies were not or less present.
  • Priority is given to projects that will most effectively help with the rehabilitation, training and opportunities to rebuild the lives of deserving victims of the Tsunami disaster.
  • To ensure accountability, the recipients of the funds should be credible organizations and individuals who will be able to deliver and account for the use of funds.
