Disasters in Asia

To date, ACCT has responded to the following disasters:

 

Dec 2004 - Asian Tsunami

Oct 2005 - Pakistan Earthquake

Feb 2006 - Philippine Landslide

May 2006 – Java Earthquake

 

Other projects funded through the General Fund include:

 

Sep 2006 – Middle East Crisis. The Middle East Crisis saw the need to reach out to the people in Lebanon. A total of S$3,598 was received via direct donations to the Disaster Aid Fund for that purpose. With the approval of the Archbishop, ACCT sent a donation of S$50,000 to the Pontifical Council Cor Unum for the “Cause for Lebanon

 

Nov 2006 – Guntur, India. A sum of S$16,620 has been remitted to the Bishop of Guntur for the alleviation of the suffering of the people in Duggirala Parish, who have recently been affected by floods caused by Cyclone Agni.

 

Dec 2006 – Albay, Philippines. A sum of $15,038.75 was given to the Catholic Physicians Guild of the Philippines to provide medical assistance to the people affected by the Philippines Typhoon Reming disaster
