Formation of ACCT
In the first weekend following the 26 December 2004 Tsunami and in subsequent donations, the Catholic Church in Singapore collected S$1,538,068. The Archdiocese Crisis Coordination Team (ACCT) was setup by the Archbishop Nicholas Chia to help further define and coordinate the response of the Church in Singapore to the crisis.
The ACCT has committed most of the Tsunami Funds to a range of reconstruction and rehabilitation projects for Tsunami victims.
In July 2006, the Archdiocese set up a Disaster Aid Fund to facilitate the Church’s response to future crisis
